Team Fortress 2 Basics and Intro

Team Fortress 2 is the sequel to Team Fortress Class, a first-person shooter, multiplayer video game released by Valve and available on Steam (PC version) as well as for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation.

Tagged "The most fun you can have online" by PC Gamer, TF2 is shaping up to be one of the most popular first person shooters to date. A former fan of CSS, I wasn't sure if I'd like the cartoony aspects of TF2 but I did enjoy the original Team Fortress Classic so I gave it a shot. It's now turned out to be my favorite game.

This team-based shooter pits two teams against one another- red versus blue on maps with objectives such as stealing the enemy's intelligence, capping control points and of course, killing the other team.

There are nine player classes in Team Fortress 2, categorized into offense, defense, and support roles. Since it is a team-based game, the right mix of these classes is important to a successful victory in each round.

Each class has at least three weapons: a unique primary weapon, a secondary weapon such as a shotgun or pistol, and a distinct melee weapon in keeping with the character, such as a liquor bottle for the demoman, a kukri for the sniper, and a fire axe for the pyro.

New class updates are adding additional weapons to each class. The player used to unlock these weapons by completing a series of achievements within the game. Now they can also be gained through random drops as you play the game.
